What you may want to Consider #2: Write an article on your student demographics

We have decided to write a series of short articles giving suggestions on what business managers and school leadership may consider doing now or this month. These may require some effort, but we have found that they promote organization, understanding and build trust around the finance and operations of a school. Like schools, these articles are calendar driven and are relevant to the school month in which they are published.

After the excitement of school starting up, by September your community is settling into their routines. Whilst there may be a host of other priorities to deal with, an article to the community on your student demographics is important and serves the following purposes.

  • It will provide interesting information to those new families to the school.

  • It shows the international nature of your school.

  • It provides facts to counter any myths about the growth of a particular section of the community.

  • It enables you to share some enrollment growth (or decline) information with the community as you communicate information that may affect your upcoming budgeting and fee setting process.

The article will offer you the chance to use some engaging data visualization, however the important aspect is to write the article and if you are not feeling inspired, pie charts and histograms also work well to convey this kind of information.
